Does
the RL system equipment need a radio licence?
 | No, all RL equipment
operates on either the 418 or 434MHz licence free
bands. The radio transmitters have Type Approval
for most countries and the system carries a CE mark. |
Will
the RL interfere with, or be subject to interference from
other equipment like mobile phones or electrical plant?
 | No. Please see our
special page on this issue. |
What is
the range of the RL units?
 | There is no simple
answer to this as the range is influenced by so
many factors. In open level ground a range of
100-200 metres can be expected. Where there are
obstacles such as walls of buildings and cold
room enclosures, the range will be substantially
reduced. The attainable range can be increased by
the addition of our Repeater units. If in doubt
please contact us: a plan of your site will help
us assess your needs. |
What is
the function of Repeaters?
 | Repeaters are used
where the distance between a sensor or group of
sensors and the Collection Unit is too great for
reliable operation. A Repeater placed between
sensors and a collector unit will receive sensor
signals and re transmit them to the collector
Unit. Several repeaters can be used on a site to
increase the distance even further. |
Can I
install a system myself?
 | These systems are not
difficult to install and should be within the
ability of anyone who understands the basic
objectives of the system, knows why it has been
acquired and is capable of installing and
operating Windows software on a PC. |
How
many readings can the units take before they are full?
 | RL recorders have a
memory for 32,000 readings . When the memory is
full the logger will overwrite the oldest
records, thus storing only the 32,000 most recent
records. However, remember that these 32,000
records are shared between the number of channels
in use: so if you are using 32 channels there
will be 1000 readings, or about 5 weeks at once
per hour.. |
What
alarm types do you cater for?
 | The system caters for
under-and over- Temperature or Humidity alarm
conditions as standard, as well as alarm for door
opening for too long. An alarm condition is
always indicated by a red light. |
 | The RL equipment has
the most comprehensive alarm system of our units,
as well as the red light it may optionally make
use of an internal buzzer and/or an external high
power buzzer or bell. |
 | If a PC is
continuously available it can be set to download
the RL recording unit automatically when there is
an alarm (or at a regular time each day). With
the addition of a Modem unit, alarms can be sent
to pagers or mobile phones. |
