A company running a small fleet of temperature controlled lorries delivers high quality chocolates. Spoilage may be cosmetic but renders the product unsellable.

The company wants to have proof that deliveries to their customers have been completed successfully. In the past it has been impossible to prove that a lorry load of chocolates arrived in good condition and must have been stored incorrectly subsequent to delivery.

The Challenge

The requirement was to have an automatic, hands-free, paperless temperature and humidity recording system in each lorry. The data had to automatically download to the company computer network.

In summary the requirement is:-

1. Accurate temperature audit trail
2. Measure and log temperature and humidity
3. Measure door events
4. Collect all data at centralized point to be viewable by anyone involved.

How we can help

Within each lorry the temperature and door openings at the back of the lorry are measured using a System5 SCOUTPlus with door sensor. The temperature and humidity are measured using a SCOUTPlus with external humidity sensor fitted.

On return to the depot the data collected is automatically downloaded to the company’s computer network via a Bridge. This data is then available to all authorized personnel in a simple to view format.
