IceSpy, UK - Applications > Accurate Wireless Data monitoring in Industrial Processors

The manufacture of optical lenses to a specific prescription order from opticians is an exacting and well monitored process. A lens has to go through several processes before an optician can fit them into a specific frame. The lenses comes into the factory as a raw, optically accurate, block. This now has to be cut to shape, coated (e.g. scratch proof film) and finally polished.  The temperature and pressure of the water and air used whilst processing lenses is the key to maintaining quality of finished lenses.

The Challenge

If the water is too hot the lens becomes too pliable and if too cool they are difficult to cut. Accuracy of all temperature monitoring needs to be 0.5 ºC .  Pressure of the polish machine inlet needs to be 0.25bar +/- 0.005bar.

How we were able to help

The plant is set up into zones and so it was decided that each area has its own System5 wireless monitoring system, feeding data via the company ethernet into the cental SQL database controlled by the System5 PC software.

Within each zone there are between 5 and 15 measurement and monitoring points. For each zone the operator has a clear visual signal either on his networked PC or on the zones BASE unit if there is a problem.

A typical industrial application would use a Multi-point Sensor Monitoring system with an ethernet Network option for each BASE. Please click on this option below:-
