Temperature monitoring to comply with HACCP, EN13485, EN12830, Food safety and food hygiene regulations. From convenience food preparation to sausage making.
A typical meat butchering and processing plant has a site comprising two separate buildings with a main office area over Building 1. The site has 12 walk-in fridges, separate temperature controlled boning, packing and loading areas, a chilling process area and a sausage room.
The Challenge
Struggling to comply with the increasing amount of regulation in the wake of BSE, Foot and Mouth and other food scares, the business needed a cost effective temperature monitoring system with centralized data collection in the main office to help it comply with Food Safety regulations.
They already have a small wireless network of IceSpy System5 SCOUTs and wanted to expand this to their new building and ham processing area. They also wanted the added feature of alarms to be sent to select mobile phones during out-of-hours.
Because the site is spread over two separate buildings a solution was needed that could transmit the data from Building 2 to the Main Office in Building 1, so wiring was not possible.
How we were able to help
Utilizing radio signals, data can be simply transmitted from Building 2 to the main office. To allow for expansion and relocation a wireless network of System5 SCOUTs with a BASE to collect the data is more appropriate than a wired-in system. As this was an expansion of an existing system we were able to install in the appropriate number of additional SCOUTs and upgrade to the latest System5 software that offers text-messaging alarms as standard.
The site required a Multi-point Sensor Monitoring system.
